Julie has been super active her whole life, starting as a young kid doing gymnastics before she found herself in the pool. She swam competitively through D1 college, and being at or in the water is still her happy place. Julie found CrossFit in 2017, after transitioning from boot camp-style training. Since then she found the CrossFit methodology to be a fantastic fit — and through it, she met so many people that she now considers some of my best friends. Julie feels fortunate to be a part of the Pacific Crest community now both as a trainer and always as a student-athlete. Outside of the gym, Julie works at the City of Portland, you can find her hiking, cooking, paddleboarding, swimming, writing, reading, watching a ton of sports… and occasionally sitting still.

CrossFit found Scott in 2013 while he was rehabilitating a broken shoulder. Scott has not looked back since, and CrossFit slowly became responsible for Scott's sanity while he negotiated with the crushing reality of adult responsibilities.
Scott likes thrusters, cats, gymnastics, and maybe four people.

Lauren (she/her) is originally from the Bay Area, having lived in San Jose and San Francisco, and has lived in Portland since 2019. She discovered CrossFit in 2015 when a member at her globo gym invited her to one of their workouts. She thought it would be just another HIIT day, but it turned out to be her introduction to her all-time favorite form of fitness. 2023 was Lauren's return to @crossfit after a four-year hiatus from the sport, which proved to be a transformative year in utilizing CrossFit's nutrition and training methodologies to optimize her health and fitness. Because of this, she pursued and earned her L1 and Nutrition 1 certificates intending to aid other community members in their journeys to becoming better versions of themselves.
Outside of CrossFit, Lauren has experience in various other activities like snowboarding, volleyball, track cycling, racquetball, and obstacle course racing. She is an XR developer by day (think augmented, mixed, and virtual reality experiences) and will jump at almost every opportunity to talk about her Siberian cat, Tacocat.

Heyo! I was born and raised just outside Burlington, VT, and lived there post-college until moving to Portland in the fall of 2021. I grew up playing a number of team sports - primarily lacrosse and football, as well as skiing and snowboarding and went on to play lacrosse in college. I first got into CrossFit during my senior year of college in 2015 as my lacrosse career was ending, and I needed something to fill the void, and haven’t looked back.
In my free time, I can generally be found outside, skiing and ski touring in the winter, trail running, and mountain or gravel biking in the summer. I have an almost 3-year-old Huskeranian named Maeve, an absolute terror who loves nothing more than burning rubber out on the trails.

“Dr. Matt”, as he is known in the gym, is a board-certified practicing emergency physician. After completing his residency at Mt. Sinai in New York City in 2004, he stayed on as faculty there as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine until moving out to Portland in 2012 in search of the great outdoors and a healthy lifestyle for him and his family. Matt discovered CrossFit in 2015.
“I was terrified when I walked into my first class. Pacific Crest welcomed me like family from day one. I was hooked in no time and today I’m proud to say I’m far fitter at 45 then I was at 25!”
In 2018, Matt had the opportunity through CrossFit Health to join a group of like-minded physicians in Aromas, California to gain CFMD-L1 certification. CrossFit Health physicians aim to reshape modern medicine by focusing on maintaining wellness through healthy lifestyle, diet, and exercise.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to maintain not one but two jobs in the health field. As a physician, my role has been to find and fix disease when it presented. Now I’m thrilled to have another position focused on improving health and wellness and avoiding disease in the first place.”

I am an Oregon girl, born and raised. A lover of the outdoors and the fresh Pacific Northwest air. I am a Mama, an avid crossfitter and a yogi. I believe in moving the body everyday whether that is through training, surfing, hiking or cycling. In an effort to keep my body mobile and healthy for my wide array of active interests, I took up yoga more than a decade ago. I believe in yoga, in all of its benefits and in sharing it with this amazing community of athletes.
Last year, I received my 200-hour Yoga teaching certification with the laser-focused goal of bringing it to the Crossfit community. I have been training at Crossfit gyms for 2 1/2 years and understand its incredible strength benefits as well as the injuries, aches and pains many of deal with on a daily basis.
